Ratings, reviews, and organization

My reviews are organized as the review sections are on the main board. When I review a photo or video the review is independent of the website they come from. So just because I give a photo / vid or photo set a low rating does not mean the site is not worth it. If you want to know my review of the overall site please see the website section for this. For the most part I will review website photoset on the website thread dedicated to that site.

Video Ratings

The videos in the superheroine genre have been improving a lot since the first one I saw in the late ‘90s. This comes about by increased competition in the area thanks to websites like clips4sale.com that don’t require you to run a website and set up payment systems to sell your videos. Essentially these sites are to the cyber world what wholesalers are to the brick and mortar world.

While the quality has gone up with these videos it is still far from fair to compare it outside the armature production stage. This means comparing one of these vids against Batman Begins is completely unfair and inappropriate. I have seen enough of these vids and my ratings are based on what I consider the genre’s average quality is. Therefore a 3 out of 5 is average (which is good), 5 out of 5 is excellent and approaching or at semi-professional, while a 1 out of 5 is just bad and leaves one wondering if they even tried.

With the videos I give them a weighted rating that considers the following aspects, not in order of precedence: Actors (looks and fit to part), acting, production (props and setting), wardrobe, directing, idea and creativity (also part of production but a separate consideration).I do not consider price in my rating as generally its common sense a higher price for a higher rated video is expected. I will comment if I think its too high or a great deal sometimes based on the length of the video. A 3 minute clip might rate high but if it costs the same as a 15 minute clip its likely not worth the cost.

Photo Ratings

The quality of the photos sets out there is much better than the quality of the video sites. These started at armature, by I mean the photographer just knew how to point and shoot. I don’t mean the traditional term “amateur photographer” who by definition can be great like a pro but does not do it for a living. A number of site have quickly improved to the point I feel they should be compared in the same league as skilled armatures or professionals.

For example as an armature photographer myself I think back to the first sets from Mandisteele.com (I was one of her first members so I saw more than the preview pics) I remember looking at them cringing and thinking, “look at this beautiful woman and great outfit trapped in these poor quality shots.” There were many problems from a photographers perspective. Now I look at them (still a member) and there is a major improvement in them making them much more enjoyable. They got an actual photographer later on so this helped, but it all goes the example of how the genre productions have evolved and improved.

For photos I give them a weighted rating that considers the following aspects, not in order of precedence: Model, outfits, props and location, quality of photograph.

Websites

This rating takes the average quality of elements mentioned above as well as site layout, attractiveness, upkeep, user friendliness, regular updates, price, and customer relations into account as well.Sadly a few of the best sites out there fail in their upkeep and customer relations. It’s not hard to update your contact email address guys!

Naturally I realize people come to these sites for the genre, models, and outfits so accordingly these get more weight in my ratings.

Rating Scale

Maximum Five Capes

One cape = Damsel in distress; ouch just ouch!

Two Capes = Damsel; not up to genre standards and needs improvement. Should notbe charging much for this

Three Capes = Heroine; average for genre, fun to view.

Four Capes = Superheroine; very good for genre; well worth the watch .

Five Capes = Superior Superheroine; Excellent, one of the best out there!

Video Production Comapny Offerings Reviewing

I will not be reviewing them as I do a website, simply because their is criteria in websites reviews that are not relavant, and moreso because they are not websites. While individual videos ahve their own section on this site Prduction companies will be given ratings that refelct the preceived average quality from a selection of their offerings. Everyone has a hit and a flop, what these reviews seek to do it present the level a fan could consistanly expect from the company.
